Refried Beans
These are OK, but I wouldn't make them just to eat, only for 7-layer dip. Since I don't ever buy refried beans, they are cheaper alternative.
2 T. shortening
2 T. shortening
2 T. flour
1 qt. pinto beans (cooked)
garlic powder
onion salt
mexican seasoning
chile powder
Melt shortening in fry pan. Add flour. Stir in beans. With potato masher, mash beans and cook a few minutes. Add seasonings to taste. Serve with grated cheese on top.
